QUOTE
“If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint.”
 Edward Hopper
This quote sums up my ideology about art completely.   I am not a man of words and so you will have to forgive my attempts to describe what has gone through my head when creating this collection.

THEME
Look at ME...
When painting these portraits of beautiful women, I try to convey a sense that they are not simply hollow objects or flat images. They have soul.
Each work is the culmination of time studying the model and is a physical representation of our relationship.
Hopefully, the viewer is drawn into my art and welcomed by the subject to, “Look at ME...”

THE ARTIST
Conor Mccreedy can be best described as a ‘funky wild man’. His art has transformed over the years from colourful African Landscapes, from his native continent of Africa.  To crazy, emotional portraits of some of the most beautiful people in the world. He draws inspiration from where he has been, where he finds himself in the moment and where he is going.
He develops his eclectic art portfolio by spending his time between one of the busiest and most exciting places on earth – Manhattan, New York and one of the quieter locations of Africa such as the Northern Tuli game reserve in Botswana.   Where the variety of landscapes and beautiful riverine forests, combined with the open savannah, present clear horizons, magnificent sunsets and no sign of human habitation or encroachment. Ensuring he is never bored with his surroundings – rather intrigued by the dichotomy.

TECHNIQUE
Conor is never one to sit still. It is incredible to watch as he transforms a 10’ x 10’ canvass into a unique work of art.  He spreads his canvasses out on his studio floor and dances around them, throwing strokes filled with colourful acrylic until he is too tired to continue. It is fascinating to watch this behaviour which is almost ritualistic.
In this collection he has applied paint thickly in multiple layers, dripping with brushes and spreading with pallet knives. He has also included his own photographic images to create varied textures and show the source of his inspiration. Using hand and foot prints, he literally throws himself into his work.

COMMISSIONS
Although Conor is only just embarking on his career, he has already been commissioned to paint intriguing personalities.  This has included Aldon James Jr., the president of the National Arts Club.  The piece is now hanging alongside masterpieces in the club in Manhattan.
The painting titled “casual” 11’ x 4’, is currently being displayed in the Penthouse of the Hotel on Rivington, NYC.  The owners of Chipriani on 55 Wall Street have chosen the painting of Kate Moss titled “Toxic” 6’ x 3’ to hang in one of their function rooms alongside an Andy Warhol original.  “Them Sneakers”,  13’ x  7’ painting and “Super 80’s” 6’ x  5’ Canvas, currently adorn the walls of, Apertivo, a trendy pizzeria and wine bar.
Conor has exhibited two collections of work.  The first at the Penthouse apartment of Ilya Ilugystev, a Russian art collector and the second at the Gates lounge.  Both were solo exhibitions and very well attended by the great and good of New York.
